Petals Love Stories

After 50 Years - Gleaner Letter Brings Couple Together
On May 30 , a letter written by Trinidadian Kenneth Tam was published in The Jamaican Gleaner. He was seeking to find an old friend, Phyllis Carrington, from his university class of 1951. Phyllis received many calls from friends, some with whom she had not spoken for a long time - alerting her to the letter in the paper. Four weeks later, on July 1, another notice was published. This time, on the notice board at the St. Luke's Anglican Church in Cross Roads where the banns of marriage announcing the union of Kenneth Tam and Phyllis Carrington, was posted. The couple got married at St. Luke's on Friday and had an intimate reception, attended by 25 persons, at the Petals and Promises wedding centre. READ MORE

Here Comes the Bride
The Garrison Church, Up Park Camp, was the venue Saturday April 26 for the marriage of Ruth Robinson to Major David Cummings on Saturday April 26. The bride's arrival was heralded by the sounds of the trumpet. At times overcome with emotion, Ruth walked to the altar in a strapless heavily beaded wedding gown. The reception followed at the Talk of the Town, restaurant, Jamaica Pegasus, where Petals and Promises created a soft romantic ambiance using votive candles and roses set in cracked ice. Guests enjoyed the music of the military band during dinner. READ MORE

The days of traditional bridal wear where the bride would be dressed in a virginal white bridal dress and the groom in classic black tuxedo are slowly disappearing. She said that Ivory is also in as not all brides look good in white. READ MORE

FATHERS' DAY FASHION
LIFESTYLE- Sunday, July 03, 2005
Edgar Gallimore offered a pleasant Sunday afternoon with refreshments for Family Time On Father's Day, June 19 at St Andrew Parish Church Hall where Petals & Promises and Haute Couture de Dawn combined for a fashion show interspersed with musical items by artistes who still have a sense of pitch, among them being Velia Espeut, Michael Harris, Charles Anthony Moore, Ossie 'D' and Stevie 'G' Karl Williams skillfully MCeed the thing together. On the whole, it seems however that the traditional continues to be the most popular; the gowns that make the groom think it's the wedding cake itself coming down the aisle.

For the men, waistcoats from the Eddie George collection were unveiled. Waistcoats seem to be making a comeback but, if you wondered what you're going to do with them in a milieu so anti-jacket-and-tie much less suits, the answer was offered. READ MORE

IF YOU were at the fashion show put on by Woman Inc. at the 'Woman 2003' trade fair and exhibition at the Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston on Sunday, then you were in for a real treat.

After an impressive first segment, thoroughly enjoyed by the audience, the bridal wear was presented. This segment was put on by Petals and Promises, and featured traditional wedding gowns as well as the more creative and an unusual raffia crocheted number - a crowd favourite. This segment proved even more satisfying to the audience, which responded with whistles, chants and claps as the ladies strutted their stuff. The presentations were fast-paced and up tempo, but not so fast that you could not enjoy the designs featured, and therefore not too stressful on the feet of the standing audience. READ MORE
